Kaohsiung and Taipei, 6th - 14th August 2014

Image
This is probably my 4th or 5th time flying to Taiwan. The last time was only in January to join Juste Debout Taiwan. This time round, I wanted to visit Kaohsiung as I haven't done so since 2011. Hence I decided to go Kaohsiung for a few days to visit some old friends and to join South Side Session 7. This was some photos taken at South Side Session 7.  Thank you Smile from KFC (Kaohsiung Funky Crew) and Yu-Chin Mike for the awesome pictures! Since I was already there, I've decided to join the Waacking category on top of Locking. I honestly never practice much on my waacking. So I didn't know how I was supposed to feel when I managed to battle my way to the Semifinals (Top 4). For locking, I only got to the Top 38 auditions. Actually I should be proud of myself because there were 100+++ auditionees for each category. And at least I got to experience battling in quite a big and well-known event in Taiwan. Even though it was through waacking.

Lock City Singapore Qualifiers

So recently Lock City Singapore Qualifiers was held at *Scape treetop studio. The winner of the qualifiers will represent Singapore in the Lock City Finals, to be held in Kaohsiung (TW) this end November.  I was practising very hard for it over the couple of months. Did my very best and I had NO RAGRATS! (quoted from the movie, The Millers) Managed to battle my way to the semifinals (Top 4).  Among all my rounds that day, I felt that I did the best during my Top 8 with Shanice. Shanice is my crew mate from StandPoint Mafia. And so is Brennan (battled him at Top 16) and KK (battled him at Semifinals).  I guess it's not surprising in Singapore when you have to keep battling your own crew mates in a single event. Haha! The scene is still so small and growing.  Congratulations to KK again for clinching the 1st place, representing Singapore this November! As for me, I'm crossing my fingers that my leave will be approved so that I can go to Hong Kong for What Da Fu

Orange Guesthouse (Seoul, Hongdae)

Image
Annyeong haseyo~! I just got back from Seoul a week ago. Been too busy so I haven't had the time to post about my trip! For the next few posts, it will all be dedicated to my experience in South Korea~ :D First of all, I would like to introduce you to the awesome guesthouse I stayed during my 7 days there!   Orange Guesthouse (Click on the link to visit their website!)   The exterior of the guesthouse says it all. It gives off a very homely feel!   The best thing is that it is so near to the shopping area in Hongdae. When you walk out to the main road, just turn right and continue walking and you will reach Hongik Uni. station. There's too much to shop there. XD   If you're looking for the guesthouse while walking along the main road, look for the Hyundai car dealer shop. Orange Guesthouse will just be a little further in.   For dancers who visit to take classes, right infront of the guesthouse (only a few steps away), is Trip Studio.

Ximending (西門町) (Taipei)

Ximending ( 西門町) is a must-visit neighbourhood shopping district while in Taipei! This shopping district have been called the Shibuya or Harujuku of Taipei. Fact: Ximending has more than 20 theaters and 6000 vendors. It is also a popular area for small concerts, album launches, and street performances.   This guy was rapping spontaneously about the things he sees around him! Damn awesome!   AND we were lucky enough to get a glimpse of JJ Lin who was having a promo for his new album! It was so cool when he had his entrance on a pretty white horse. I'm sure all of you out there would be familiar with the term 'bubble tea'. 'Bubble tea' was actually originated from Taichung, Taiwan during the 1980s. So Taiwan is the perfect place to have some authentic Bubble Teas! There are many brands out there. But when I was in Ximending, I love to buy from 2 particular shops, 'Ding Cha' (薡茶) and 'Come Buy'.   Look at the Chocol
